Technology Update: Zoom Meetings

by Mary E. McCraw, CFP®

Technology is constantly changing and we are always looking for ways that we can use it to better serve our clients. This quarter I would like to highlight one of our most recent technology updates – Zoom client meetings.

As our client base has grown over the years, we’ve found ourselves with more and more clients living outside of the Little Rock area. Whether it’s young physicians moving after training, retirees moving to be closer to family or clients who have never lived in Arkansas, we have realized we need a reliable and secure way to meet with these clients. We have used Skype in the past, but clients have encountered various issues and frustrations with logging into the system.

Recently, we have started using Zoom for these meeting. The biggest advantage Zoom provides our clients is the ease of joining a new meeting. Unlike Skype, Zoom does not require a participant to have an account to join a meeting. That means one less password to remember! Zoom allows us not only to have high quality video “face to face” meetings with clients, but also securely share screens during the meeting.

We’ve started using Zoom for our out of town clients, but it is also an option for our Central Arkansas clients if you find that you just can’t make it into our office. It works well not only for routine update meetings, but also for quick answers to a pressing issue.  We’re happy to set-up a Zoom meeting if it works best with your schedule regardless of where you live.
