Meet the Team: Gari Bassett
This week I am excited to tell you a little more about one of my favorite people, Gari Bassett. As our Office Manager, she is the glue that holds everything together and is often referred to as the “Office Mom.” She not only takes care of our office exceptionally well; she also takes such good care of all of us. You may have interacted with Gari and I hope you enjoy learning a little about her!
What do you enjoy about the work you do?
I am a caregiver at heart. I enjoy making sure the employees are recognized for their hard work and have a good time while taking care of our clients. Having been widowed at 45, I understand tough life transitions and can bring perspective as our team helps clients through similar transitions.
Favorite quote?
Don’t let someone else’s opinion of you become your reality.
– Les Brown
Your favorite Podcasts?
The Happiness Lab and The Late Kick with Josh Pate are my favorite podcasts. Grief and sports – these seem to be polar opposite topics, but I have certainly grieved over many a sporting event (Omaha 2018 comes to mind).
What are three values that drive you?
Honesty, loyalty, and integrity
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I am a passionate Razorback fan. I love all the sports, but football is my favorite. As a season ticket holder, it is my favorite time of the year!
What was your first job?
I worked at a florist shop during the summers of high school and college.
What’s something you’re planning to do in the next year that you’ve never done?
Traveling to Spain.
Spring, summer, fall or winter?
Fall (both for the weather and football)
What advice would you give to your teenage self?
Don’t be so uptight! Have fun, and don’t sweat the small stuff. This stage is such a small part of life; it doesn’t have to define you.
If you haven’t had a chance to meet Gari, ask to meet her the next time you’re in our office. As always, we are here for you. Please email or call if you want to set up a Zoom videoconference meeting or talk by phone.
